Designing Spaces is proud to have Performance Designed Products (PDP) join their special ‘Miracles to Remember’ makeover project at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. PDP graciously donated gaming accessories that were the perfect complement to the teen lounge area. Their products provided the kids with activity, excitement and most of all-- smiles. PDP makes gaming accessories for all ages and all platforms, and provides mounts for the Kinect™ cameras (360) and various attachment accessories for the Wii™. These are some of their popular products that are now a part of the gaming room section of the teen lounge. Gaming can be a very active experience with the right games and equipment. It can engage groups with sports and dance games and can be a very social and engaging experience for a kid who isn’t able to go outside and do the normal activities that other kids do. Some parents think that video games are very sedentary and not a good use of their child’s time-- and that can very well be true. But, here’s something you might not know. Video gaming is now used by some physical therapists for patients both young and old. The therapists use the various Wii™ games like boxing and soccer to help patients regain strength, balance, and coordination. If your child is in the hospital for long periods of time and can’t engage in the usual sports and activities that other kids get to do-- gaming can provide some exercise and mental stimulation in a relaxing way. At the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital the products PDP provided can help the kids forget about their medical problems for a short time-- and just have fun.
