The National Mortal Kombat 9 Tournament was a huge success. We want to extend a huge thanks to everyone who was involved, everyone who came out to the event and everyone who watched on the live stream. Two days of intense action played out in the Pacific Ballroom at Bally’s Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Those who came out to spectate were treated to the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection in classic style arcade machines featuring the new
Klassic Fight Sticks by PDP. Ed Boon & the guys from Nether Realm dropped in to check out the tournament.
Once the tournament came down to the top 16 qualifiers the room turned intense. A lot of players came out of the gate strong with Sub Zero, Kabal, Nightwolf, but it was clear that the top characters were Ermac, Cyrax and Kung Lao. There were a number of Kung Lao mirror matches throughout the event and it all led up to an impressive final match between Floe and Justin Wong.

While we had a few hiccups, overall the event went relatively smoothly. We would like to thank everyone for their patience with our first ever fighting game event. We understand that the guys had to play on an unpatched version of the game and share in everyone’s frustration regarding this. We made an attempt to get a patch that would work in an offline situation, but that just didn’t happen. Realistically, we could not have 40 different Xbox consoles online simultaneously in the ballroom. This was a huge learning experience for us and we hope to be able to do more events like this one in the future.
The whole event was streamed on G4tv.com by Team Spooky, if you missed it you can check out the whole tournament on
